"Where The Hell Is Hatfield?"

"I know where the Hell Hatfield Is"

A few decades ago, a bumper sticker asked the question where Hatfield was. A couple years later, locals created a second bumper sticker that had an answer for the question. In reality, the Hatfield area has been a popular summer vacation spot for many decades. Along with the whimsical location question was the ominous population sign above that still stands on the outskirts of the area.

Nowadays, however, the famous sign is a bit outdated as the Hatfield area is now a year-round destination for activities including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing, and the list goes on.

Things to do in the hatfield area

The Heart of Hatfield is beautiful Lake Arbutus. However, sports enthusiasts of all sorts enjoy many other activities the area offers year-round. Some come for game hunting, others for nearby casino gaming. Some come for treasure hunting at the Hatfield Flea and Craft Market. Still others come just to relax and enjoy this beautiful area of Wisconsin.

Beaches and Parks

Sometimes just a swim or a relaxing beach blanket and playground for the kids is just the thing. Russell Park and West Arbutus Beaches are within walking distance, and its only a short drive or boat ride to the East Arbutus Beach on the East side of the lake. With pavilions available to reserve, picnics or other group gatherings are very popular.

Levis/Trow Mounds Recreation Area

Levis/Trow Mounds provide more than 24 miles of designated single track off-road bicycle trails and an additional 17 miles of cross-country ski trails. Levis even provides winter biking opportunities for the fat-tire enthusiasts!

If Hiking is more your style, Levis Mound is the single largest trail system devoted to hiking opportunities in Clark County.

Wazee Lake Recreation Area

The lake itself is 146 acres in size but is the clearest and deepest inland lake in Wisconsin, and has become the most popular scuba diving site in the Midwest, attracting more than 1000 divers annually. A non-motorized lake, it is popular with kayakers and canoes alike.

In addition, the area offers 9 miles of hiking trail, 3 miles of surfaced bicycle trail, a large beach, picnic areas, handicap fishing pier, boat launch and several scenic vistas of the surrounding forest land.
